Battersea Dogs & Cats Home

If you are not already a pet owner, here’s where you can start your journey. This iPhone app for our friends at the UK’s best-known pet rescue centre lets you scroll through a gallery of deserving cats and dogs, making it easy to choose your new companion.

Cat Effects

• Re-write history and have a cat lifting the 1966 World Cup, add kitties to your holiday snaps or put a moggie on the moon. It’s all possible with the new version of this app, which lets you draw or stamp cats on to any photo. Sadly you can’t yet use images of your own cat, but there’s an extensive library of feline photos for you to choose from, with inexpensive upgrades allowing you to access even more animals.

Cat Fishing

Here’s a game for your cat to play! He can get his paws on some fishies without getting wet and without depleting fish stocks. The game gets harder with each level, making this a challenge for even the most determined pusses.

Is sharing pics of your pets on Petplan’s Facebook page not enough for you? This app lets you read about the cute moments the camera wasn’t able to catch, plus see the ones that have been caught on film. A real feel-good app.

Rabbits

Another app from Petsie, which tells you all you need to know about bunny breeds, with hundreds of photos as well as games and a highly scientific ‘Who’s the cutest?’ facility. So far there are over 1.5 million pictures on the app. That’s a lot of bunny-watching, so you’d better hop to it…

Rate My Pets

Everyone thinks that their pet is the best, and now you can find out for sure whether yours is. This Android app allows users to upload unlimited photos of their animals and show them off to a captive audience of fellow pet-lovers. Some owners even dress their pets up in eye-catching clothes and natty hats to improve their chances!

RSPCA My Pet

This comprehensive app from the RSPCA includes top tips on pet care, a pet diary for important dates and a scrapbook feature that allows you to collate pics of your pets to share on social networking sites.
