Maggie’s, Fulham

If it was acceptable in the 80s it’s acceptable at Maggie’s, London’s very own late-night bar that celebrates all things Maggie Thatcher in the decade that was neon and sweat bands. Not only is this decked out 80s space great for dancing, showcases and private events but UV parties and Rubik’s Cube drinks are a standard. Maximum capacity is 180 guests.

Trader Vic’s, Park Lane

The global brand began when Vic “The Trader” first opened a cosy saloon in California after a tropical trip to Cuba. Now various tiki spaces are open around the world including a restaurant at the Hilton Park Lane. Transport up to 300 guests to an island getaway with a fusion menu and rum masterclasses.

The Little Blue Door, Notting Hill

The Little Door has been repainted. Once yellow, it’s now blue, but with the same emoji menu that made it famous. If you’re looking for the ultimate flat party where everyone’s friends and no one’s uninvited, head over to Notting Hill for casual cocktails, retro games and dancing on the tables. The Living Room can host groups up to 90 with spaces such as The Kitchen and The Study for smaller parties.

Barts, Chelsea

Barts is as discreet as it is fabulous. As long as you know its location (somewhere on Sloane Avenue) and the password to the door, you’ll be welcomed to the prohibition for an illegal night run by the Chicago gangsters. The speakeasy bar is perfect for Great Gatsby parties of 80 guests, poker nights and entertaining with a secret garden open for barbeques and summer evenings.

Bunga Bunga, Battersea and Covent Garden

The party-hard Italian bar in both Battersea and Covent Garden is a crazy variety show of entertainment, music and theming. Pizza is served by the metre and naturally can be eaten from a speedboat whilst a house band play Rat Pack and actors encourage victims to sing at the karaoke bar. Of course the party obsessed venues are perfect for all kinds of celebrations and private fire from 10 to 400.

Trapeze, Shoreditch

No clues here which theme this venue celebrates… three floors of live music, bars and of course vintage circus décor. The basement club, mezzanine, bar and kitchen can accommodate 180, 250 or 50 guests perfect for private parties, cabaret, performances and team building experiences.

Shaka Zulu, Camden

Be welcomed by 20ft warrior statues at Shaka Zulu, London’s largest South African restaurant. The two floor space is populated by bars and themed murals covering every inch, it’s not a surprise the Zulu King gave it a blessing himself! At full capacity Shaka Zulu accommodates 750 standing guests but for smaller events the lower level and mezzanine can host 350 and 110.

Cahoots, Soho

Go back in time to post-war London at Kingly Court’s underground bar. And when we say underground, we literally mean the London underground. There’s a vintage train carriage as well as wooden escalators and a platform bar. Under the vintage lampshades and beautifully British décor, parties of 150 can enjoy a jolly knees-up or take exclusive use of the carriage.

Rascals, Shoreditch

This hip East London hangout might not have a traditional theme, but its bright and colourful identity goes further than its pink walls. The backdrop for many loud and playful events, Rascals takes on its name with a dunk chair, Wheel of Misfortune and even wooden stocks for the actual rascals of the night. And perhaps the best bit? This restaurant-cum- playroom claims the title of being the world’s first ‘waterproof’ dining room complete with water guns and Jelly Mountains. Invite up to 250 guests for a night to remember with in-house Michelin background chefs, millennial pleasing hues and a license until 2am.

House of Detention, Clerkenwell

The historic prison built in the 17th century witnessed many an attempted escape from Victorian criminals, as well as becoming an air raid shelter during the Blitz. Take up to 160 guests down to its chambers and cells for an event with a rather eerie theme.

Sarastro, Covent Garden

On the famous Drury Lane, Sarastro restaurant embraces its theatrical location with a bold operatic theming for all the senses. A Turkish menu is served below and between curiosities whilst ten opera boxes and balconies line the walls. The Grade II listed building can accommodate up to 225 guests.

Bar Kick, Shoreditch

Once a High Street shoe shop, this football themed bar took over in 2001, filling its floors with French football tables. The basement can be hired from Sunday to Thursday with space for up to 150 guests to champion the 6 tables.

Moonshine Saloon, Chelsea

Step into the Wild West at Moonshine Saloon, where cowboys, farmers and miners come for a bevvy. From the team behind the Alcotraz experience comes London’s latest immersive bar and the best bit? It’s BYOB. Just smuggle in your liquor of choice and the sheriff in town will whistle you up a moonshine cocktail. The space has a capacity of 70 cowboys and smaller groups can be hosted in a private parlour.
